The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Presents our Educational Comic Book Series:

A Heroes Voice

A Short History
of the
Mille Lacs Band
of Ojibwe

Dear Friend:

Aaniin and thank you for your interest in the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe’s comic book series. Our educational comic books, Dreams of Looking Up and A Hero’s Voice, offer valuable insights into American Indian culture in a way that appeals to the imaginations of the young and the young at heart.

Dreams of Looking Up tells the story of one Ojibwe family’s discovery of its heritage. The story centers on a young girl named Mary as she recounts conversations she had with her recently deceased grandmother. Through the age-old Ojibwe oral tradition, Mary learns the true meaning of tribal sovereignty and passes on these vital lessons to her family.

A Hero’s Voice follows Georgie, a young Ojibwe boy, and his sister Jennie as they learn the true meaning of heroism. As they listen to stories told by their grandfather, Georgie and Jennie discover the lives of heroic Ojibwe leaders from the past.

The Mill Lacs Ban is proud to have this opportunity to share our heritage and culture with others. We hope you enjoy learning about us as much as we enjoy sharing the culture with you and other friends.

Mii gwetch.
